Textiles Workshop

First, batik.

I created this by drawing my image using a pencil then using hot wax I went over the pencil lines with a tjanting tool .

Then I just brusho inks to put my first layer of colour on to the image, then I just the tjanting tool again to put more hot wax where I wanted the colour to stay. But on this image I just simply just a brush to paint the brusho inks where I wanted them instead, both ways are very effective.

Once you have dried your ink of by placing a piece of printing paper on top then using your hand to press on the paper to soak up the left over ink, you can now see from them image above where the ink as stayed.

Next place the age between a few sheets of printing art and this will be when the wax comes off.

Using an iron like this will work the best at getting the wax off your image. Just rub the iron over the top layer of printing paper for a few seconds till you can see the wax coming through, then you replace the top layer of paper with another and repeat this process. You do this until there is hardly any wax coming off your image and your image is smooth not bumpy.

Once you have done this you have finished your image and you should send up with an image like the one below...

ENJOY USING THE BATIK TECHNIQUE !
